Join us at Lumiere Cinema Romford for Refugee Week Film Festival, celebrating stories of courage in person!
Refugee Week Film Festival 2026 at Lumiere Cinema Romford
A curated programme of short and feature-length films exploring themes of displacement, migration, belonging, and community that organisations and individuals can screen for free during Refugee Week.
This year’s film selection features a powerful programme spanning fiction, documentary and animation, with stories ranging from intimate portraits of life in refugee camps, to a mother preserving her culture in a new country, solidarity found behind immigration detention fences, and the animated journey of two polar bears forced to migrate due to climate change. The films invite reflection, conversation, and connection and are available to watch for free at home or at shared screenings at cinemas, arts venues and community centres.
Hosted by Lumiere Cinema, Havering Asylum Seeker & Refugee Psychology Service and in partnership with Refugee Week, this film festival brings together a selection of award-winning short and feature-length films from around the world, offering audiences the opportunity to engage with refugee experiences through cinema.
Whether you attend a single screening or join us throughout the week, we welcome everyone to come together, reflect, learn, and celebrate the contributions that refugees make to our communities.
