If you have an idea for a community project, we're here to help you set it up and to unblock any challenges you're having.
Writing a constitution
To apply for any funding, you will need a legal document that explains who you group is, your mission and who is responsible for your group.
This document can be tricky to write as it is a legal document.

Safeguarding
Making sure your members are safe is the most important thing to think about when setting up a group.
Make sure you have an agreed safeguarding policy that explains how you will make sure vulnerable people are safe while they engage with your service.
The Safeguarding team also run lots of free training for volunteers and frontline workers.
Go to one of their training sessions to make sure you know what to do to keep residents safe and how to report concerns about someone.
We recommend everyone does the 'Safeguarding Adults Awareness Level 1' and / or 'Level 1 Safeguarding Children' as a start - if there aren't any dates you can make, please reach out to the team at safeguardingpartnerships@havering.gov.uk
Setting up a bank account
To apply for funding, you will need a bank account in the name of your organisation.
There are lots of options to choose from, such as the Metro Bank Community Current Account.
Finding a venue
There are lots of free, low-cost and accessible spaces across Havering where you can run community events.
