For over 50 years, Havering Adult College has been bringing a range of diverse opportunities to the residents of Havering (and beyond), and this year is no different.

Free courses for all learners

The following courses are free for everyone, no matter your income:

  • English & Maths Functional Skills - free for learners aged 19+ without GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
  • Essential Digital Skills - free for all learners aged 19+.

Most courses are free for most learners

Many courses are free if you meet the following criteria:

  • If you are unemployed and in receipt of:
    • Universal Credit (UC)
    • Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
    • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
    • Other state benefits (please enquire)

 

OR

  • If you are employed / self-employed and live in a London postcode and earn less than £27,007.50 per year or do not live in a London postcode and earn below £25,000 per year.
  • If you are unemployed, not receiving any benefits and want to e employed / or seeking exceptional support with social integration.

Digital & Design Courses
  • Graphic Design — Learn visual communication, branding, layout, and digital illustration. Ideal for aspiring designers, freelancers, or anyone wanting to build a portfolio.
  • Web Design — Explore UX/UI, coding fundamentals, and how to build functional, attractive websites. Great for beginners or those looking to upskill for digital careers.

Art, Craft & Creative Skills

  • Art & Design — Drawing, painting, mixed media, and creative exploration for all levels.
  • Sewing / Fashion & Textiles — Learn garment construction, alterations, pattern basics, and textile creativity.
  • Sugarcraft — Develop skills in cake decorating, modelling, and intricate sugar artistry.
  • Floristry & Other Crafts — Additional hands‑on courses will be available as part of the expanded creative programme.
