In the Cost of Living crisis it can be difficult to keep on top of your utility bills. There is support to help you save money on your bills.
Get support from the Havering Energy Doctors
Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering run a free service for Havering residents aged 18+ to make their homes more energy efficient.
You can get a free home visit from an Energy Expert to assess your home's energy efficiency and give you advice on how to use energy more effectively.
Join the Priority Services Register & get support from DABD
If you are aged 60+, have a child aged under 5, or identify as disabled you can get priority support and accessible information via the Priority Services Register.
DABD's Centre for Warmth offer free energy advice and support for residents, particularly around signing up for the Priority Services Register. Get in touch with them to get support.
Support with your water bills
- Thames Water
offers financial support to customers who need help paying their water bills.
- Essex & Suffolk Water
offers free water-saving kits to help you use less water at home. You may also be able to get a free water-saving visit, where an adviser can suggest ways to reduce your water use and lower your bills.
Grants to improve the energy efficiency of your home
offers grants to help cover the cost of replacing a fossil fuel heating system with a heat pump or biomass boiler.
helps eligible households make their homes more energy efficient, which could reduce energy use and lower bills.
- Great British Insulation Scheme provides free or cheaper insulation to reduce your home’s energy bills if your home has an energy performance rating of D-G and you are in Council Tax bracket A-D.
Warm Home Discount
Households on eligible means-tested benefits named on their electricity bill can get £150 off their electricity bills this winter.

Havering Energy Doctors
The Havering Energy Doctors is a council funded service delivered in partnership with Age UK East London and Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering which is available to all Havering Residents age 18 and over free of charge. It aims to support people who may be struggling with rising energy bills or living in homes that are difficult to keep warm.
