Co-founders Kieran and Jaylan created Mind of the Student after facing their own mental health challenges in school.
Once feeling alone and unsupported, they now work to ensure no young person feels that way. Today, Mind of the Student empowers students with the confidence and knowledge to speak up and seek help, while providing teachers and parents with the tools to support young people effectively.
EmpowerU is a 6-week programme for young people aged 10–13. It is dedicated to:
- Nurturing mental health
- Boosting self-confidence
- Supporting emotional growth
The programme aims to empower participants with the skills and resources they need to thrive both now and in the future.
Each session is thoughtfully designed to provide practical tools and a supportive environment. Young people will be able to explore topics such as:
- Managing stress and anxiety
- Understanding and expressing emotions
- Building self-confidence
- Developing problem-solving skills
- Learning positive coping strategies
Sessions will include interactive, age-appropriate activities that encourage open discussion, peer support, and resilience and emotional wellbeing.
EmpowerU is an early support programme designed to help young people build confidence, understand their emotions, and develop practical coping skills.
It is a Tier 1 programme, suitable for young people experiencing mild to moderate challenges, such as anxiety, low mood, or difficulties with confidence or friendships.
All referrals are reviewed as part of our triage process to determine whether EmpowerU is the most appropriate support.
This process can take up to 28 days from the point of referral.
You will be notified by email once a decision has been made. In some cases, we may contact you for a follow up phone call if we need any additional information to support our decision making.
EmpowerU is not a specialist or clinical mental health service. If a young person requires more targeted or intensive support, please contact your GP as soon as possible.
If you know a young person who could benefit from EmpowerU, please complete our referral form.
